Not all that familiar. Where does this one fit in? Is it sort of a prequil?

SW222 12-21-2011 10:45 AM

Fcuking boring..I stopped watching at 1:15.

Penguin Koolaid 12-21-2011 12:05 PM

Is this like Lord of the Rings?

brew 12-21-2011 12:53 PM

Oh man, for some reason I thought Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) was supposed to direct that one. Too bad, that would have been awesome.

the Hobbit, is the original story written by Tolkien. Due to its success he wrote a sequel, which eventually became the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

If you remember in the Lord of Rings movies, all the references the older Bilbo Baggins had about finding the ring, and the adventures he was on, that's what this story is.

Although its only one novel- Peter Jackson decided to split it up and make two movies of it. This will be the first of the new movies.

did you guys enjoy the other movies? If so, theres no reason why you shouldnt enjoy these eithers. If you found the other movies, long and boring- than you'll probably feel the same way here.

This is nothing more than a teaser trailer- no need to show a thousand and one big bangs and loud actions sequences as that is NOT what lord of the rings is about.

rather ts about the homoeroticism between midgets with big hairy feet.....

This. I think he is going to include a bunch of other material that took place at that time; during much of the adventure described in the Hobbit, Gandalf was elsewhere on other business. Galadriel is present in this trailer, yet she makes no appearance in The Hobbit. I hope he'll tell the story of Gandalf, Saruman et. al and their dealings with The Necromancer, who actually turns out to be Sauron.

Sorry to geek it up, but these are my favorite books in the world.
