Track my M3 or Rx-7??

Ok guys, I need some advice. I have a 2004 LSB 6sp M3 with just a hair over 60k miles. It's 99% mint condition, but living in VA I'm only an hour away from the Virginia International Raceway and I want to start running at the events there.

My dilemma, I'm told 'don't drive anything to the track that you don't mind trailoring home"...I don't necessarily baby my M3 but I have full intention on keeping it in pristine condition. On the other hand I have a pretty sturdy 87 TII rx7 that has been moderately modded. Engine is in decent enough condition to run it just needs some work before its track ready. It doesn't handle like my M3 nor is it as fun to drive but there are worse track cars out there...

I need some opinions...what would you do? What type of abuse, wear/tear is typical for a tracked car? Rock chips, scrapes etc...I don't tolerate any sort of chips on my M3...

Track the RX7.

Your M3 would get millions of rock chips, spray and debris up front. Not to mention all the wear and tear on components.

Which car do you love more. Honestly I love rx-7s they are one of my favorite cars out there. I would track the M just cause I love rx-7s and the M is a better racing car.

Absolutely agree !

Based on your own statements, run the Rx7. With a little cash, the Rx7 can be made to handle better than the M3.

Good luck.

PS, buy a good condition used tow dolly, you'll need it.

I'd say I love my M3 more, probably because of the cost and the condition compared to my rx7. I'm sure I could run better lap times in my M but if it's just going to be for my own fulfillment I'd probably be better off just tracking my 7 it sounds...plus, I live 25 mins away from the Blue Ridge Parkway which I go on just about every week in the M anyways lol.

RX7.

it's almost as fun as a small GT size car can get. Weight is also much easier to get out

RX7 will be more fun and you will learn more.
