surprise: my top goes up/down remotely
 

I relized today that unlocking my car and keep pressing the unlock button afterwards will roll windows down and open the top. Locking it will make the top roll up.
I thought that this option could only be activated by hacking the OBD, I am right?

You will finish the battery by doing that.

there are aftermarket options that provide this capability.

This makes me wondering what else is hided in my car :P

Normally that's a Euro-only feature. The previous owner either got an aftermarket module that enabled the functionality, or had it coded.

I think that statement may be incorrect: my car does it, is not modded, and is not euro.

The perfect time to do it is when you are walking back to your car, talking to a woman (who is already getting excited and trying to figure out how she will tell you how much she loves your car). They will "gush" after they see that.

Unlock once, drivers side.
Unlock again, passenger side...but, if you continue to hold it down on that second push, the windows will drop and then so will the top.

It is horrific for your battery though! :-/

The top closing is definitely a Euro only feature. Opening is available on US cars (though I think it came disabled by default on early convertibles)

It was never added to the US because it is technically not legal as per the FMVSS.

It can be very easily enabled with autologic and similar tools - that must have happened at some point. It's purely a software modification, so it wouldn't leave any physical traces.

Maybe Canadian cars as mine have that feature?
