MY step was stuck in 3rd gear but now its fine?

yesterday i was driving around and my trans was stuck in 3rd gear. i went home turned it off and back on in five minutes and it was fine any comments about this anyone
?

Mine once got a gear pictogram in the place that was supposed to have the "D". It was really slow, like being in 3rd gear, then I shutt off the engine, turned it back on and everything was fine and nothing happened after that. So I dunno what caused that, if you find out, please let me know.:dunno:
