Goodyear eagle GTs
I just bought a 2002 330ci convertible that has Goodyear eagle GTs. 225x45 zr 17. I am still varying the pressure to get a softer ride. These tires seem as hard as rocks. Anyone have experience with these? I've got the pressure down to 30 front and 34 back. The manual says I can go down to 29/34. Is this just something I'm going to have to live with? Any suggestions?

I have know Idea what your previous experience is with low profile tires but once you get below a 50% hight to width ratio they start getting pretty stiff. The lower the profile the stiffer they are. I find that I prefer to air up a little as it gives me better piece of mind when hitting potholes. It may be placebo effect but it seems like I have damaged less sidewalls and rim lips at 35 to 40 PSI on my 18s

Seeing that you are running 17" tires. I don't think that your rough ride is caused by your tires. Most likely caused by your worn dampers. Get them replaced and you'd be surprised how much better your car rides. In fact, this goes to everyone who is reading this. If you are still rocking your stock dampers with over 60k miles on the car. Your ride could be way better with new dampers.

My car, is a 2002 but has only 20k miles on it. Would the dampers get bad with age?

I had Good Year Eagle GT's on 2 cars I hated them. I couldn't get them off fast enough. stiff ride, noisey & they wear out quickly.
