CV Boot Question.
First off, I've done some searching but I have a question that seems to be overlooked or not really answered.
My boots are torn, leaky but I am not having any noise, ticking or issues driving with the joints/axles. My question is, can I just replace the boots or do I "need" to replace other parts? I imagine once I get in there and inspect them I'll have a better understanding but at this point, it seems superficial and just a simple torn boot. Opinions? |
If you're not having any symptoms of worn out axles, I'd just remove the boots, clean out the joint, repack with grease, install new boots, enjoy a cold beer, done.

Same thing happened to my Xi. Both front boots ripped. No problems otherwise. Cleaned it all up, replaced boots, been problem free for two years now.
