Ordered new window regulator, how should I make the window stay up temporarily?
Passenger side window decided to fail today.

What's the best way to temporarily and securely hold the window glass up?

No tree branch please :eeps:

Remove the door panel and push up the regulator by hand. If the wire is wrapped around the motor then remove the motor, unwrap the wire and then push the regulator up by hand. Reinstall motor.

Search for a thread on here where someone put a piece of 1" wood inside the panel to hold it up. Try searching for "rear sedan zip tie" or something like that. I would search it for you but I'm on my phone.

Don't tape it up. People will break in

Didn't know you already had the regulator. Ignore my last post

I just ordered it today. It will probably get here on Monday. So I need something to hold up the window in the meantime

I just taped mine with some clear tape...

stick or piece o wood would work

Tape. Clean the tape residue off with WD40 when the time comes.

I used some clear tape. Hopefully this will keep the glass up

Thanks guys!

Never mind... my suggestion below.
I didn't realize you removed your door panel already.

3M doubleside tape and a quarter inch piece/strip of debit card.
Move your glass up to position and doubleside tape the strip to the bottom edge of window, this will hold the glass up til you are ready to DIY.

NOTE: I hope you have your battery disconnected.. Do Not drive your vehicle with the door panel/sensors unmounted, it may set off your door airbag or cause an airbag light warning. Just a heads up.

You can use a small piece of cardboard as a shim placed at the bottom and wedged in towards the pillar.

If it's a sedan or wagon, which has a frame around the window, the clear tape works great. Don't use duct tape, blue painters tape or any other tape that is obvious or someone will take a picture of your ghetto car and post it in a Honda forum. If it's a 2-dr then it becomes a lot more difficult.

I think all of us here know that the BMW windows regulators suck, but, they also suck on my wife's Toyota Camry. She had both front window regulators fail within a week of each other at around 70k miles. To keep the window up I took the door panel off and used a couple of C-clamps to hold the window in the closed position.

Mine failed too recently. But I caught it just before it broke completely and was able to close the window one last time. Replacing it this weekend. Been broken for a month now

Just haven't had the time.

But on my last car (e36) I used clear tape.

Blue painters tape. A couple strips and you are good to go.
