My steering wheel became very hard
So I drove up to Pasadena today then came back and stopped ay the grocery store and everything was ok. Went to work right after and 15 minutes later I come out to my car to leave and when turning it on it felt and sounded weird for a moment. I turned it off and tried again and it was ok but when I was trying to turn the steering wheel it was very hard. Luckily there's a mechanic next store and my mech. said it might be the power steering wheel gave out. The fluid is good. I just want to know if any of you guys had this problem out of nowhere and what was the outcome and part it needed. I looked through the forums and didn't find anything so I gave up looking. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'd definitely say your PS pump died.
https://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/cat...SUSstr_pg3.htm Are remanufactured PS pumps available? A new one is really expensive. |
Dang it. Oh well I guess shiit like that happens. Hopefully my mechanic can get it for a low price. Thanks a lot dude. Hopefully It's just that and nothing too major.

Autozone has em for around $150

Thanks for the input

Have your PS fluid checked, it's possible there's a leak somewhere. Much cheaper to be replacing a line or clamp than the whole pump if that's not the issue.

Blaze it. Problem solved.

Got the pump replaced today. Everything came out to $375.
My friend just got the same problem right now. Weird. |
Did it fix it?
|
375 is a expensive fix
I bought pump for $125 and paid $120 labour to fix it. It took the guy under 2 hours to do it. |
I won a bid on a new ps pump on ebay $65, shipped , installed it myself.

Unfortunately I'm not handy with mechanical stuff so ehh I needed a quick fix. And yes it fixed the problem.
