Alarm diagnostic assistance please.
Hey guys,

I bought our 2004 325xi with high millage and it runs great but has a couple minor things wrong with it. I'm attempting repairs myself unless they become too complex that it becomes a trip to the dealer.

One issue that is annoying the crap out of me is the alarm system does not "appear" operational. The "clown-nose" does not blink, and there is no indication from the turn-signals or horn that the car is either locked or un-locked.

I have checked the fuses (specifically 43 & 45 i think) and both were fine.

Does anyone have any experience with this issue or can provide some basic pointers on what to check in an attempt to resolve?

Those are car/key memory settings that can be changed by the dealer or other coding software. You can check if the alarm is operational by locking the car with all the windows down, then reaching in, popping the hood and opening it, assuming the hood switch is still good.

you need to program the car for the blinker and clown nose. get a cable that comes with software on ebay for $35 and do it yourself.

Do you even have an alarm installed? Not all cars do, pull down the little box on the headliner, if there is something in there you do, if there's just a wire and no box in there you don't have the alarm
