Do I have Xenons?...
Hi all,

Have searched but unable to find the answer as to whether or not my 330 Ci has Xenons installed?

Is there an easy way to see by looking at them at all?

I didn't think that I had them but when I went out tonight I noticed they dipped down and then back up again.

My Vectra GSi did this and it did have xenons...

Post a picture of your headlights.

Search the lighting section of the forum

If you look directly at your lights and both lobes look identical, you don't have them!

Thanks both.

So normal lights do the dip down and back up as if leveling even with normal headlights then.

Will post a photo tomorrow in the day light for a definitive answer.

Just took a look and confirm that they are Xenon's.

I thought they were originally but the BMW dealer said not.

Then the dipping down on start-up made me think they were so hence my post.

I would upload a photo but unsure how to.

Thanks all for the help :)

One other point...

I appear to have the headlight beam adjustment dial with 0, 1 & 2...

Doesn't look OEM.

CalE46xi 09-15-2012 12:40 AM

Looks like aftermarket to me.

cityjohn 09-15-2012 02:38 AM

Those are European one-piece lights

Thanks John.

I am indeed in the UK and the BMW dealership said that it was stock and not modified.

Then again he said it did not have xenons.

In fairness he didn't know much about the car at all :-)

If you have the 0 1 2 dial it means you don't have autoleveling, so no xenons from the factory

kwlaznkid 09-15-2012 03:58 AM

oem headlights non-xenons, just projectors. common guys this is n00b stuff

cityjohn 09-15-2012 03:58 AM

It's all rather mysterious. When you switch the lights on, do they come on kind of blue and then warm-up to white within 10 seconds? Xenons do that. Standard halogens just come at full brightness.

tilla 09-15-2012 07:18 AM

They come on normal so guessing that they are non-xenons as kwlaznkid says.

Here are some photos in the daylight.

danwilz 09-15-2012 08:44 AM

They are projector halogens......Now stop this insanity......:tsk:

tilla 09-15-2012 08:47 AM

I've stopped. Took your word for the fact they were projectors but had already taken the photos so still posted. :)

Solidjake 09-18-2012 03:51 AM

Projectors, but they are not xenon.
