Slopestyle is a dishonest dealer of parts

I contend that Slopestyle basically pulled the bait and switch on me related to this ad:

E46Fanatics: Race mesh grille 99-00 (by Slopestyle)
Set of Race mesh Kidney grilles. '99-'01 Sedan. $100. Pristine condition.

I'm editing this post as he refunded 50% of buying price. Still lame, but... buyer beware.

Without evidence, this thread is just garbage

Wolrab 09-19-2012 03:10 PM

Seems to me there's something wrong with using the same message to bump 50 unrelated threads. Every refreshed thread I open, there it is again. I'm sick of it.

Sucks you got burned. Set his car on fire. That or rape his goldfish (assuming he has one).

I shined the Jake light in the sky (which is really just a fleshlight) and he hasn't responded :(

Always pay that extra 3% on PayPal so you're covered when things like this happen. A fanatic sold me fake ray bans and I'm glad I paid the extra when he told me to send the payment as a gift. I wouldn't have had PayPal as leverage when he initially refused a refund. He finally made good of it and refunded all my money.

WerksM3 09-19-2012 03:14 PM

Why don't you post pics of what he sent you?

Guest021715 09-19-2012 03:15 PM

Without pictures this won't go past people telling you to post in the right section.

Agreed for all we know, the grills were fine.

Maybe he'll see it next time he's up a pole.

No reason to make two threads on the same topic.

hizhinezz 09-23-2012 11:48 PM

Ok I was pissed off and got a tad carried away with all the reposts, not sure how it ended up in here so many times but mods must have merged thread to ease cleanup, I apologize for wasting their time. (I was banned for a few days for doing so, thus my delay in response...)

See pics below.

Truthfully, while I go to great lengths not to waste money (such as driving a 13yo used car I own outright instead of financing or leasing a new one, and I could, it's just not how I like to expend my resources).. $100 is not a big deal to me. It's what I drop on burgers and fries out with my wife and kids, or a tank of gas and a car wash... It's really the principle at stake here in terms of why I doth persist.

In my experience, the peer pressure and shared community affect of sites on which I've posted has always borne itself out. I've rarely been burned when I've trusted and gone out of my way to earn that of others with whom I've done business and interacted. Have faith in people or a site, and most often you are rewarded, both in the material sense and intrinsically, which is doubly rewarding. In my experience, people who seem trustworthy can be trusted; sites like this attract good people for the most part. I prefer to live in the world that is grounded in faith rather than in fear.

Use your own discretion in doing business and caveat emptor. Ultimately who you believe here is up to you... But.

So, for the pics. Now remember that in his original ad, and posts subsequent (funny, didn't he have a post in here, and now he's deleted it?) Slopestyle has used words like "pristine" to describe the involved "race mesh kidneys" and continually used the above photo taken from Bavarian Autosports web site as a point of reference for what they actually looked like. Now, we've all seen ads where someone didn't have a pic and said "the ones in the pic above are not the ones I'm actually selling" but that detail was never offered, nor has it been highlighted since then, despite my complaints. I guess I was supposed to just settle for the ones he sent even if they looked NOTHING like those pictured.

Now for the pics, have a look. You'll notice that NONE of the components would even rate as pristine, let alone the whole confabulation. Clearly, versus custom aftermarket race mesh grilles, as they were repeatedly described, what we see here is a set of broken OEM or aftermarket kidney frames, with "mesh" crudely inserted between. Upon closer examination this "race mesh" is actually "chicken wire" available for sale at about $5.00 for 5 feet at any local home depot. A generous estimate of the combined components, even we overlook that the kidneys outers are broken (cracked and missing tabs etc.), might be $30-40 tops considering that new aftermarket kidneys start out for as much BRAND NEW (Khoalty, Modbargains etc), but.. advertised as similar to the BA mesh ones pictured... with the wording used.. for $130, price drop to $100... if that's not bait and switch or false advertising, I don't know what is.

I welcome your feedback.
