Relay HIDs Or Not
My 2006 325ci came with projector lows so I installed a HID kit. Everything works fine (plug and play) but once in a while one or the other (but not both at the same time) lights goes out untill I work the headlight switch several times to get the dash warning to go out. I have searched the posts here and found a lot of opinions on relaying or not. Since the watage is close to the original should I have these lights going out without a relay???

OEM or bust...and you don't have Xenons if you had to add a kit. Get better light bulbs and avoid the problem altogether.

The ballasts are not strong enough to light the bulbs, and it can take multiple tries to get them to fire. A better brand of bulb will definitely fix this.

you should be fine with a relay

It won't fix your problem, but you will be fine.
The resistance in the bulbs is too much for the ballasts to overcome. What brand of bulbs do you have? I had this issue with TheRetrofitSolutions bulbs, and older factory ballasts. When I swapped in a set of newer ballasts that I had for spares, the problem went away. But the old ballasts had no issues with the factory OEM bulbs (I forget the brand). So, either replace your ballasts, or go with factory bulbs.
