Difference between 99 and 03 Suspension

Hey guys,

Just wondering what the difference is between the 99 323 and the 03 325 suspension is.

Koni has 2 different part numbers for the 2, so does all the coilover manufacturers.

Reason I'm asking is because I want to upgrade to KW V2's in the spring and pass on my Konis to a buddy of of mine who has a 03 325.

I've searched and pulled snake eyes.

Thanks

There were some changes to the E46 suspension in 2001. According to RealOEM.com, in April 2001 there was a change to the rear shock, for example. I don't know what exactly changed, but I would guess the shocks are valved differently. There may be other changes, go to RealOEM.com, plug in your models and it will show you the break point for any changes ("From" and "Up To" in the part number diagrams).

From 09/2001 sport suspension was standard.

I knew that until 8/01 there were 2 types of shocks and 2 types of springs.

Per my research, the M sport suspension was an option part of the M tech package.

As of 09/01, the M sport suspension was standard.

I had the M sport suspension on my car and so did my mom. I have a 99 323i and she has a 01 320i. Her car, OEM to OEM, always felt stiffer and more responsive.

Thanks for the help, it confirms exactly what I thought.

Between her 323 and her 320, did you both have the same wheel size and similar tires? Tires can make a huge difference in responsiveness.

We didn't have the same wheel setup.
She had a set of 16x7 with BFG G forces, and I had a set if 17x8 with FK 452's.

I think I will return to 16" with some Yoko RS3's
