Detroit Metro BMW Shops?

I need the typical e46 rear subframe problem fixed up and I don't weld. Anyone recommend a shop that know their way around a BMW?

isn't that a recall and every dealership can do that for free? I believe that's what the lawsuit stated in the letter I got 2-3 years ago. I did mine in Erhard BMW 5 years ago and they did a pretty good job + a loaner

It was actually a class-action lawsuit with a 1y window to get it inspected and fixed, which expired in 2010. Sounds like that's around when you got yours done. I just picked up this car, so I'm a little late to the game here.

I just called Erhard FH and the guy did say it would be out-of-pocket, but maybe I could lean on BMW NA to get it comp'd? Never had to schmooze my way into a recall getting fixed, so I'm not sure what kind of leverage I have.

Call the folks at Milennium Auto and ask for Alex. They're an independent shop in Romeo and specialize on Impreza's. Alex does a ton of work on M3's and knows them inside and out. He'll be rebuilding my VANOS so I trust him quite a bit. Here's their site below.

I would call bmw na and give it a shot. As I said, I did mine way before the lawsuit and they still covered it.
The shop next to Erhard bmw of FA, called advanced auto sport would do it too and they will do a good job. Actually, they helped me get the car fixed at the dealership for free. So you never know, google them, get their number and see what they say.
