best car for under $10k and $20k?

i'm wondering what the fastest car is for under these prices. first 10k then you can bump the limit up to 20k.
the desires for the car are, fast, handles as good or better than my e46, decent daily driver, and good looks.
i don't want things like fox body mustangs. those are ugly as piss and will not take a corner.
i'd also prefer to stay away from things like a supercharged e36. as cool as that'd be i need reliability.

For 10k nothing reliable, for 20k maybe a used 335i or a c5 z06

interesting.
lots of cons though. cant really work on it without a $50,000 computer. kinda higher milage for a newer car. mods will be too expensive.

I actually may have stretched the budget by a couple grand. My wife and I are in the market for a coupe (either 328i or 335i). Although, I love the 2004 or 2005 330i zhp coupe or sedan and would be very content with either, those imho would be another great choice. Good luck!

C5, scoobie, Evo, 335i/135i if you can find one. Zhp's are nice too, but I'm biased.

i just looked. you can find one for under 20k but it'll have over 70k miles. that's a lot for that year.

i was thinking maybe a subaru. but you can't find a good sti for under 20 and i'd never be satisfied with just a wrx. c5 to me is nasty. not really sure i'd be able to find a 135 with decent miles for that price but that's a good option. they've kinda grown on me.
couldn't justify replacing my 328 with a zhp. my 328 is a great car, wouldn't be worth it to me

look up the Drive network on YouTube, they did a piece on this. Best cars under 5g's, 10g's and 20g's.

for under 10k you could pick up a stage III s4. It's definitely not going to be reliable, but it sure will be fast.

Well for 10k you could have an s52 swapped e30 that is super clean, very fast, and reliable. I found a track ready e30 for 7k. Boom, extra 3k right there. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=263609

And for 20k you could have 2 of the aforementioned e30s, or 5 very clean stock e30s so when one breaks (which it probably wont) you have 4 more to drive. Hell, I bought my immaculate 1991 325is for 2k... at that price you could have 10. Think about all the bishes you could pull when you tell them you have 10 bmws

 i've thought about a swapped e30. very seriously. but for dd status i don't want an e30. it's too old for me. i'm so tired of crap breaking. first the check panel reads wrong. then my cluster goes out. then my seat wont incline. then the ebrake won't hold. then you find rust somewhere. then an axle goes out.
i love the e30's i really really do. but i couldn't replace my e46 with one and that's essentially what i'm doing with this potential car.

acura TLs (type s) with blue transmission bolts which means you dont have to worry about the transmission failing. Good dailys.
