Tire noob

I'd like to know what size of tire the 2002 330ci with style 72 wheels fits best. My current tire option to buy is the Bridgestone RE 760 Sport. I want to avoid fitment issues with the new tires so I'd like to make sure I'm getting the right size of tire. This is what TireRack gave me Tire Size: 205/50R17 93W. I'm getting tire info at TireRack but will be getting the tires at Costco since it's cheaper.

Sorry if this is a noob question.

Thanks in advance.

If rim widths are the same front and rear than that will be fine and will be the cheapest size you can get (looks like price is a factor). If rim sizes are the same front and rear and you want a bit sportier than go 225/45 R17. If rim sizes are different front and rear go 225/45 in the front, and 245/40 in the rear.

Most important thing in a tire is quality though. Regardless of size or price a quality tire is what you want. Remember, there are only 4 small patches of rubber holding you to the road so choose wisely for your and other's safety.

Although price is a factor, I still want to buy the best tire I can afford for my e46. How do I find out what rim size I have for front and rear?

Its on the back of your rim. Pull one front and one rear to be sure. It'll be stamped on there something like 17 x X.XJ (where "X.X" is 7.5", 8", etc).

According to http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/ <- very useful site, style 72s are only in 18" sizes, so perhaps you do not have 72s but something else. This can also help determine which size tire you want/need.

(that website does have some innacurracies and is incomplete so don't take it for gospel truth).
