Closet Project

They wifey and I decided to do a nice built in for my sons room. The previous owners had put a few white wires shelves in each of his 2 closets and they didn't take advantage of the space.

After searching around I decided to buy a John Louis closet system from Amazon. I went with this one because they are solid mahogany rather than the particle board crap you get from Lowes or Home Depot. The quality is high but it needs to be designed and customized for your closet size and you need to cut all of the shelves and support braces. I was impressed, and I'm going to do more of our closets. Well worth the $200 and I wouldn't want to even guess how much it would cost to have a closet company come and do something similar.

That looks good. Much better than the particle board crap I got from Lowe's..........lol
I used those closet kits in most of my closets but they work for me.
Yours is much more attractive and I wish I knew about it before I did mine.
I like the idea of them being raised off the ground as well.
Good job !

BTW, my neighbor paid 1200 dollars to have her kitchen closet redone from the Closet Company.
It was as basic as a closet can get. Two boards on the sides and 6 wooden boards across the middle.
I couldn't believe it was that much.

Thanks guys, and the pics suck, I will try to get better ones. iPhone camera with crappy lighting. I'm generally not happy with the quality on most things these days but this kit is great. Solid wood, and easy to work with. Raymond, I also didn't mean that the Home Depot / Lowes kits were crap, perhaps I was being a bit too dramatic. What turned me off is that I looked at one of the displays at Lowes I believe and half of it was broken or breaking. It didn't inspire confidence

No, i was being facetious....lol

I have installed the wire ones in one home and the wooden ones from Lowe's.

I agree that they are cheap, but I needed to do something to replace the wire shelves that came with the house, but I was not going to pay 900 bucks for one small closet like my neighbor.

I could not find another reasonable alternative and I needed something quick.

I have considered building some from scratch but I am concerned with how I will build the drawers with the hardware. That is new ground for me.

I might just do one or two closets like you have.

I like what you did.
