[PICS] Coolant rises to normal level after bleeder screw is opened, NORMAL?

I have just recently been paying attention to my coolant levels after the low coolant light came on a couple weeks ago. After I drive the car around the expansion tank is completely bone dry and the coolant level stick is at low (or more like empty). When I open up the bleeder screw, pressure escapes, the coolant returns back to the expansion tank, and fills back up to normal level. Is this normal? Also, the light has never come back on again.

*Please excuse the dry coolant spray all over the plastics*
