Mid-Atlantic Dyno Day! Saturday Nov. 10th

Hey guys, anyone in the Mid-Atlantic area interested in having their cars dyno'd, then this is for you!

So, we're shooting for Saturday November 10th! I need at least 8 people to commit w/a max of say 15. (First come, first serve, no exceptions!) I would like to try to get people to pre-register, so that I can have an idea of how many cars will be there. Please reply to this thread w/your name and year, make, model of your car, and then copy and paste the previous name(s) to update the list so that I can keep a running tab.

Frank Smith, from Tuning Tech FS (vendor tuner@ Mpact), will be conducting the testing. We will concentrate on dyno pulls only, as custom tuning is extremely time consuming. If, however you would like to make an appointment for some custom tuning at a later date, Frank will be more than happy to extend the Mid-Atlantic Dyno Day special rate (read on). I thought that we could start at around 10:00 AM, and run 'til maybe 5:00 or 6:00 PM. He would offer an M3Forum special rate of $65.00 (regularly $85) for 3 pulls with air fuel monitoring, a print out, as well as a professional opinion(s). All M3 (2001-2006) custom tunes on the dyno are usually $750.00, but he would offer a show special of $550.00 (dyno fee absorbed into this price). Newer M3's (E90,92,93) are usually $1000.00, but he will offer a show special of $750.00.

The new shop is really nice, epoxy painted floors and walls, a really nice office with a 46" Big Screen TV on the wall w/a Play Station 3...and several racing games for customers to play while they wait. This alone is worth the price of admission! Lunch & drinks will be provided! Anyway, let me know your thoughts, and if you think this is a good date/idea, or if you think we need more time...Even if you don't plan on dyno'ing your car, please feel free to show up to hang out with the other club/forum members and share in the activities. The last 2 Dyno Meets have been a blast!

Some additional info:

-It's a Dyno Dynamics dyno (typically reads about 10% lower than a Dynojet, but he can 'correct' to Dynojet #'s if we want).
-For those opting for future tunes: This is a true custom tune, so he can maximize your tune (if you so desire), or he can dial in a safe tune if you plan on running, or only have access to 91 octane fuel.
-He has extracted almost 300whp from almost stock M3's (baselines of 278-282whp, deltas of 15-20hp and 8-15ft. lbs of torque)
-He can Alpha-N tune as well
-He has been tuning cars for over 22 yrs.
-He can tune other cars besides M3's
-Currently only set up for 2WD

That's all that I can think of for now, but if anyone has any specific requests or needs more info., please contact me.

The new shop name is Tuning Tech FS and it's located here:

4700 Belle Grove Road
Unit 14
Brooklyn Park, MD 21225

Notes:

-Frank will offer 1 free dyno to returning customers, who add more mods later to their car, and then want to come back to see if further tuning is required
-Forms of payment accepted are Visa, Master Card, Paypal, & cash
-This is posted up on M3Forum as well, and I'll keep a running updated list on both sites.

Thanx, Stan

I need to get race headers installed with cats further back, then I'll be down to get in with a custom tune!

Kool, think you'll have it done by the Dyno Day??? I moved the event from Nov. 3rd to the 10th because people said that they needed more time.

JohnBlaze 10-23-2012 09:24 PM

nah, I got in on that Status Gruppe goup buy, but Mike Migs said they won't be ready for like 3 or so weeks. Then I'll need to make sure I have the funds to get the install and custom pipes and cats done right, so will be a few months out

Ok, kool, have you done a baseline yet??? If not, I would recommend you get one before installing the headers.

here's my baseline, but it was hot a F out, I think I'm gonna do the IAT mod to move away from MAF and into the air box

Is your S54 all stock? If so, numbers look about right, funny how your power was really dropping off by the 3rd pull? Usually the 3rd pull shows more power than the 1st or 2nd pulls, unless you were already starting to experience heat soak?

JohnBlaze 10-25-2012 08:27 AM

the S54 is stock, stock air box, stock headers, borla V2 midpipe and magnaflow axle back. Only thing different is the canned Epic tune

It was like 90 degree's out and humidity was like 40% which definitely wasn't helping make power. One thing I've noticed is that I seem to be making more torque lower in the rev range when comparing to other minimal mod dyno's I've seen.

Ahh, ok, so it's mostly stock apart from the tune...was wondering 'cuz your AFR numbers look pretty much spot on! You should still come out to the Dyno Day if you can make, I'm sure the weather will be more condusive to making power in mid-November!
