Grinding noise

Hey everyone so i recently started noticing that when i shut off my car it makes this grinding noise. The car is a 323ci with 157000 miles on it and the entire coolant system as been replaced not that that really matters i suppose. Only performance mods done are light weight pulley and nose cone other then that there is nothing done to the engine. Worst case scenario my engine be bad? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks for any help in advance.

Where is the noise coming from?
Is it in time with wheel rotation?
Does it happen, in or out of gear or with the brakes on or off?

It only happens when i turn the car. The car is moving or anything. And it sounds like up in the engine bay. I suspect the alternator may be going bad now. Sounds like it comes from the general area.

It's definately the alternator. I just brought my 330 in because everytime I turned the car off about 2 seconds later it would make a grind noise. Mechanic said alternator.
