How much does a beer cost at your local bar?

A lot sure has changed in the past 10 years. A few days ago went to the bar and a Corona costs $6.50. I was staggered. My friend actually said that that's considered average and some places charge even more.

How is it where you're at?

saxual328ci 11-15-2012 01:48 AM

It really depends on what type of bar you go to. I went to a local bar and a a Corona was $4. Go downtown and its $4-6. But I prefer something on tap.. something off the IPA list. Easily spend $4 and up.

Nothing really has changed. Its just more is available. Location dictates pricing. I know here in VA, if you sell alcohol at a restaurant/bar ... your total Food sells have to be $2k per month. Most people don't eat food at a bar. So this is why some bars will charge more for beer.

Depends what beer, and who drinks Corona... especially at a bar

bars advertise $2 PBR... but PBR is Past Blue Ribbon, so I'll pass

I would say about $5~ a beer, give or take $1.50 depending on what it is and if it's a glass, bottle, or can

now, this sounds douchy, but I try not to drink at bars where I don't know the bartenders / manager personally - because I like to drink for free. I'm sure some bartenders will look at this and get mad and think it's not possible.

4-8 bucks for most bottled beer depending where you go around the Bay Area of N. Cal
but some miller, coors, bud light are cheaper

steve.k 11-15-2012 02:23 AM

$9 for a Corona

TN here and the bar I like to frequent for sports and bar food does $3.75 34oz. Yuengling that I get. However, the nicer bar where I go grab a drink drink, take casual dates, buffalo calamari *drool* is about $4-5 for a 16 oz. I stay with gin and tonics there though.

RKiepper 11-15-2012 03:01 AM

In St. Louis, it's $4 for a bottle

Back home where I live... $2.50

wild willy 11-15-2012 04:49 AM

All depends where you go and what you drink.....Miller Lite or some crap like that would be anywhere from a buck to 4.50

Guiness or New Castle---3-6 Bucks

Breyton-BMW 11-15-2012 04:58 AM

80 cents.

rover220 11-15-2012 04:58 AM

between 6 and 9 US dollars for a regular pint of beer here.

bimmerfan08 11-15-2012 06:27 AM

On average, $3-$6 for a pint.

When I was in Blacksburg, it was much cheaper than that. Same with Knoxville, TN.

MrWesson 11-15-2012 06:43 AM

3-6 for domestic regular prices(happy hour 1-3)

4-8 for imports and fancy microbrew's

The golf course I live on has $1 yuengling, amberbock, miller light pints all day. I like to get a bunch of people together and take that place over a weekend night.

I tend to go where its cheaper or hit up a place with a happy hour till 9

Hrvat 11-15-2012 06:49 AM

$3 during happy hour, $5 regular price
We also have sick deals where most bars sell doubles all Thu night for $3. Same deal on Fri and Sat, but only until midnight.

NJ///M 11-15-2012 06:53 AM

$3 Bud Light
$4-6 For a real beer

Rubenk 11-15-2012 07:00 AM

Dive bar is 2$ cans(coors, pbr, miller) and my preferred sports bar is 4$ domestic drafts.

$4 - $7 for a decent draw - Sam Adams up to Guiness, including "imports and microbrews".

On the cheap side, I have status at a local brew pub for $2 20oz of their beer Sun - Thurs. I spend a lot of time and money there - my meal may be $25, but the three beers for $6 still make it a cheap night.

Edit; anyone seen the Bell's Java Stout back on tap yet? I haven't had any yet this year...

Redline 11-15-2012 07:35 AM

Guinness is $5 on tap here
