FS: Racing Dynamics Strut Brace [bay area] SOLD!!!

SOLD!!!!

Looking to sell my RD front strut brace in great condition.

The reason I am selling is that it doesn't fit my 323it like I assumed it would. I believe it is due to the raised "bumps" on the strut towers of the early e46. After taking the hood liner off, the brace still bumped into my hood. I ran it for a week like this, but then promptly took it off after noticing the contact with the hood.

Here is the email I received back from RD after inquiring:

Being the part is used, it's possible it might have been damaged during it's
previous use.
It's not unusual for the bar to contact the hood liner due to the extremely
tight tolerances in most engine bays, however that should not cause a 'hood
bulge'. We've not experienced prior fit issues with the E46 bars.
We've never actually test-fitted one on the 'it touring' as that model was
not available when the brace was engineered, so there might be a slight
difference than the sedan/coupe model.

Regards,
Customer Service

The brace in no way looks damaged or tweaked as RD suggests. My thought is that it is either the bumps on the strut towers, my hood is tweaked, or my 2000 touring has a compatibility problem with this model of strut brace.

There are two small blemishes from contact with the hood that are purely cosmetic. Structurally, it is is excellent condition with all parts present.

I'm a big fan of full disclosure, so I have tried to represent brace to the best of my knowledge so the future owner is aware.

Cheers :hi:

Note: Will add pics of blemishes later this week.

Bump! More pics soon! I promise!

trentcdrums 12-11-2012 09:28 PM

I'm interested, but that price << for it being used and all..

drumsauce 12-11-2012 11:08 PM

trent - thanks for the interest. I bought it 10 months ago used for $150 plus shipping which came to about $180. Turner has them for about $260 shipped. Now it is just sitting on my workbench. I think $130 is a reasonable asking price as other RD braces have gone for about the same. If you have a price you are willing to offer, don't hesitate. The worst I can say is no.

So, are you interested enough to make an offer? Or just to bump my post? ;)

BTW, what style of music do you play? Gig? Session? (assuming you are a fellow drummer)

Can't debate on if I want the cf bar from Ecs or this. :0 haha. And yeah I'm 17 been drumming for 8 years learned myself no lessons. I used to e a hardcore rocker but I'm really settled to alternative, jazz, and I do a lot of alternative drumming for my church :)

I would love to have this, but no $$$ for another week! I'd love to get rid of my AA strut bar for this!

drumsauce 12-12-2012 02:37 PM

Trent - Cool man! Church is the best place to not only hone your craft, but worship the Lord with your talents. I do the same.

Mikey - Sorry but it just sold!
