Flip Key!!!

Is there a way to boost the transponder signal? I have a flip key case and the chip is too far away from the ignition. What you guys think?

Stinger9 11-21-2012 08:05 PM

wish I knew what your question is?

SHOoff11 11-21-2012 08:12 PM

Any way you can move the chip closer? Cut and re-solder or something?

Is there a way to increase the signal of the transponder chip so I can start my car with my new flip key?

I don't think so

Did you transplant the chip from an old key? Did you order a flip key with a proper chip that matches your EWS?

austinadrew11 11-22-2012 04:23 PM

Yes, I tried using the circuit board from my last key, but I put it back into my old housing so I can drive the car.

you can probably move the chip closer..somehow..in the plastic valet key it's just a block sitting inside the key

I have to be careful with whatever I do, because I only have the one master key.

What is preventing you from ordering another one from the dealer?

jfoj 11-23-2012 03:01 PM

$160!

If $ is preventing having 2 keys disassembling your one working key is pretty dumb.

austinadrew11 11-23-2012 03:28 PM

my key still works fine after i put it back together

In before:
" I ruined my only key; is it possible to start my e46 with a screwdriver? "

austinadrew11 11-23-2012 03:58 PM

anybody know a way to move the transponder chip closer to the top of the circuit board without damaging either one?

jfoj 11-23-2012 04:39 PM

Yep, one working key is foolish!!

$60 for a wallet key, you can harvest the transponder from inside the key head as it is more of an encapsulated transponder like the older keys with the LED.

Or just mount the wallet key inside the steering column so the wallet key always registers on the EWS!

austinadrew11 11-23-2012 04:52 PM

Not a bad idea. Any way i can get one cheaper

jfoj 11-23-2012 05:58 PM

Yea, if I buy it and mail it to you!

Otherwise you can try www.BMWpartssource.com
