If its over $2500, then ill take a pass on it. Having it bought from bmw would make a difference

Driiven 11-25-2012 10:52 AM

2500 gets you pandoras box I would do a basic r and r of the engine you buy while its out. Do the oil pump nut fix as well

DontWriteGraff 11-25-2012 01:42 PM

Those guys are the best and their prices are extremely fair as well. I was able to source my cinnamon interior through them.

zhenkaaaM3 11-25-2012 03:55 PM

Yea I checked their inventory. Decent pricing for the motors. Sadly they only have a couple. There are many out there. But if I will be spending money for the swap, I am trying to find the best bang for the buck. I am trying to figure out if its possible to rebuild the engine without spending thousands on the engine+labor.

Driiven 11-25-2012 04:36 PM

Could help more if you explained why you need to swap motors?

zhenkaaaM3 11-25-2012 04:48 PM

The motor gave out on me. I believe a rod or something down below seized up not letting the engine crank. I would think, taking apart the engine, diagnose it, and possibly rebuilding it would be better then just swapping motors.

Driiven 11-25-2012 05:32 PM

have you tried cranking it by hand?

zhenkaaaM3 11-25-2012 05:40 PM

Yes. It moves and stops at a certain point

Driiven 11-25-2012 05:44 PM

You sure you didn't mis shift? Pull the motor out of course.Pull the pan and head. Check the valves/pistons first. If not then maybe your oil pump nut gave up causing all sorts of carnage. Could also be a bearing that gave way.
