Went to get my snows mounted, walked out to this...

They mounted the 225s on the 18x9 rears and the 255s on the 18x8 fronts. They also managed to put them on the wrong side of the car. At least he got the tires on the correct axles...

Had an MR2 that had different wheels and tire sizes front/rear. The rear wheels had a little pin that prevented mounting on the front axle...

If they are damaged I will be going after them. I don't really care about the wasted time as I'm putting all the miles on the Jetta till it sells and I have a company car all weekend anyway.

JDez 11-29-2012 05:29 PM

Many an ass would be beaten. How incompetent can a person be?

Please tell us where this happened.

CT Bimmer 11-29-2012 05:31 PM

Haaa what idiots. Should've walked right back in and made them correct that. What kind of shop did you go to?

landstuhltaylor 11-29-2012 05:33 PM

This was at the local Chevy dealer. In the past I have gone to Sears and have always had great experiences, but the one over here has already made sure I will never be going back. The closest BMW dealer or good independent shops are all 45 minutes away at best.

I would make sure they mounted the tires correctly...I don't know how you could pay any less attention to details.

I recently went to a small tire shop to get some rears. After they mounted my tires and were putting them back on the hub I caught the dude just tightening then down with the impact. I yelled at the guy and told him to use a torque wrench. The guy looked at me and said "What's a torque wrench?" Needless to say, I wont be going there for any kind of service.

make them put them back the way you brought them in and pay to have your car towed to a real shop that understands vision and overall use of eyes.
yes towed.

Yeah...this is the exact reason why I wrote "FRONT" and "REAR" on my tires before I gave them to my shop.

A common occurrence, unfortunately. I had a friend getting tires mounted and balanced along with an alignment for his E36 M3 at a BMW dealership in Arizona. He dropped it off when the service bay opened that morning and was quoted around an hour or so before the work would be completed. 4 hours later, he called and the dealership confessed that they simply could not get the car to align. My friend demanded to go in and see the car on the rack. When he arrived, he realized that they were mounting the staggered wheels/tires incorrectly. Front tires on rear wheels, both rears on one side of the car. He pointed it out and they immediately got to work correcting the problem. Truly stunning.

**** that sucks, they messed up mine too they put rotation tires the same direction on the rear. It wasnt that much of a deal but went back and just waste of time.

The sad thing is that one would think you're paying these "professionals" for their expertise. In fact were just paying them for the use of their machine because a blind turtle can understand that's not correct. What morons.
