Cam shaft journal wear

Working on swapping the cams from my overheated motor over to my new head and noticed some wear on one of the journals on the intake cam.

Here's what it looks like:

The cap:

Does it look safe to reuse or do I need a new cam and cap?

Best to get to a speed shop or something akin to that to get someone with lots of experience to pass judgement on this when viewing it in person.

I used to work on large electric motors with shafts and bearings much larger than this. If a shaft was scored like yours, we'd smooth it down with emery paper and make sure the bearing had enough babbit material on it so as not to be too thin. Maybe smooth that down too. The oil film would protect the surfaces when running. I say there's hope for you, but best to get the experienced eye on this.
