New Cadillac CTS-V's...Opinions?

A lady I work with just got a brand new Cadillac cts-v. Never really followed or been to much of a fan of Cadillac but damn the new ones are nice! A lot different than my dads 99 deville.....What are your opinions/thoughts on the new caddy's?

in my opinion, you posted the single shittiest picture of a cts-v you could possibly find.

The 1-year old CTS rental I drove was a piece of crap.

Buick LaCross was awesome though.

I would drive a 550hp CTS-V wagon all day long.

This.

Car and driver did a long term car CTS-V wagon and they loved it. I want one really bad.

The regular CTS is not so impressive, the Vs are the ****.

Had that one in stock for a week. It was one of 2 6 speed manuals for sale in the country at that time (below $40k).

Impressions:
Damn nice car, not quite sure its worth the money. The car is so quiet and refined that it feels numb. You dont feel the speed so much as you just see traffic behind you getting farther away. The 08+ vette with the 6 speed TR6060 feels MUCH more fun the drive, but its a different animal. Oddly, because the vette is lighter, even with 120 less HP, it FEELS faster.

couldn't an aftermarket exhaust take care of that?

Those wheels are incredibly similar to the Mustang FR500 wheels.

I'd love to own one of these, would be a sweet daily.

Exhaust, intake, etc, probably. The car makes NO fun noises stock. Unless you really need 4 doors, I would take the vette for far less money.

^ did you ever figure out what was wrong with your LS400?

SPDSKTR 12-05-2012 12:55 PM

The new CTS-V's are pretty wicked. I considered hunting an older one down, but horror stories of the differential kind of geared me away from it.

No pun intended.

Yep took it to Lexus and they said the power steering pump is slowly leaking fluid into the alternator a common problem with this motor. Previous owner didn't do a very good job fixing it the first time.:tsk: I'm gonna just try to do it myself.

Starfire Auto 12-05-2012 01:02 PM

^ Yeah but didnt you replace the alt and were still having issues, or was that someone else? I had said try another alt.

Yes the CTS and even the Vettes have a rear diff issue. The 08 vette I have in stock now is getting basically a new rear end...it only has 35k miles!!

Yeah and that's the problem fluid is getting into the brand new alternator! the pump sits right above the alternator. Lexus says usually the o rings or the hoses related to the PS pump get old and stuff leaks out right into the alternator.

My mom has had her non-V sedan for just about a year now. It's an awesome car. Even in non-V trim, it's got a good amount of power, and it's beautiful inside.

I tried to convince her that the V wagon was the way to go, but no dice.

I would seriously consider buying even a base CTS. Plus a solid warranty/maintenance package already thrown in for you is also very attractive.

We've got an SRX on our short list of vehicles to test drive

I wasn't all that impressed with the interior. I don't deny its performance though.
