Ipad vs galaxy, Kindle etc what to do?

Hey guys,

I need some help deciding what Tablet to get, but let me start by saying that the reason why I'm posting here is because today my job gave me 200.00 gift card from amazon and I figured I use it on a tablet. I was already interested in buying a tablet, but I was leaning towards the iPad mini because of popularity and I came across these gift cards. I already have a Mac pro and a Iphone and I'm not a Apple die hard fan, I wouldn't mind buying something else. Also I've noticed that on Amazon the iPad mini's are more expensive ($430-600) then what they go for on the apple store(329.99) and the galaxy 10.1 goes for 300.00. But these price differences is making my decision difficult to choose. Could anyone help me out with a good opinion please

nexus 7 would be a great buy but youre looking at an extra 40bucks or so for the 32g.

i just grabbed a galaxy tab 7" yesterday and i cant put it down. feels great not needing to go through itunes for any transfers. oh and you can use flash

Given you have a Mac pro and a Iphone, it might make sense to get an iPad. Maybe find someone who's willing to give you $200 for your gc...

Kindle fire HD is 200

your absolutely right bro, but I was thinking maybe I'll get bored with its interface simply because its all I see. I wouldn't mind a slight change for fun

Any tablet that isn't running iOS is going to feature an extremely lacking apps experience. Most apps on android tablets are merely scaled up phone apps. I already have a Retina display iPad, but if I was new to the tablet game, I would look no further than an iPad mini.

Post PC Era. iTunes, and connecting the iPad to your computer at all for that matter became a thing of the past in 2011 with the introduction of iOS 5.

ive done numerous comapro between the 3 samsung, nexus, ipad.

nexus may not hace the sd card slot and 2nd camera in the backm but has the best screen and best processor that will come in handy in everyday use. and jellybean on nexus 7 rocks.

the 2nd camera(both camera on the samsung sucks)

kindle HD will have its own apps store that charges you for everything and is not root friendly yet to the point its worth hacking. The nexus OS is by far the newest and best for everyday use.

get the 32g. thats what I didm and having had setup and used all of them. The nexus 7 is hands fown the best 7 incher right now.

trust I make decisions like thios for a living and this is by far the best 7 incher(yes Im back and buzzed from the christmas party and knwo it)

i have an iphone 4 and had an ipad 2. After trying out the galaxy tab, I prefer the android os more.

Galaxy is just horrible, kindle fire hd is actually pretty legit, so is the nexus .. I'd go with the iPad simply because your already in the apple family kinda like me.. Also makes for easier syncing and ect with ICloud and iTunes

Plus it's just better IMO

That's unfortunate, but thanks anyway for the irrelevant piece of information :hmm:

i have an iphone 5 and a mbp. when buying a tablet, i opted for the nexus 7. thinking of selling it for $240 (32GB) with charging cradle. lmk

the tablet is great, but i think ill get the ipad mini next. i just prefer iOS over android.

It's the most refined interface.

I'd consider getting a surface tablet if I hadn't turned into such a raving apple fanboy.

How is it irrelevant? He owns an apple product, owned an ipad and tried andorid and preffered it. It seems he could be as unbiased as possible and prefers android over IOS so thats his recommendation.

I was specifically addressing the reason why he opted for a non iOS tablet. He claimed to be tired of dealing with iTunes, which makes no sense, because iTunes is no longer a requirement when owning an iOS device. I pointed out the error of his ways, and his only response is that he likes his new OS. That seems pretty irrelevant to the topic, if you ask me.

I find Android OS to be completely reactive and way too time consuming to use. I always say this when the Apple Vs whatever else debate comes up. I use my iPhone, iPad and MacBook pro every single day of my life. With that fact in mind, I simply want a product that works, correctly, every single time. No one does a better job at this than Apple. In addition, their ecosystem is unchallenged in the market place. Who wants to use scaled up phone apps?

On my mini now, I highly recommend it!

I've never been a fan of tablets, but I was looking to buy one for my brother for Christmas. Extreme noob question: do all tablets require a data plan or is wifi enough?

They don't require a data plan. Almost all (if not all) have wifi.
