Spacers needed for st coilovers?
In about to purchase st coilovers for my e46 m3, and was wondering if I would need to buy spacers as well? Right now I have the stock rims and tires setup.

Reasoning asking is because when I had a 330ci zhp with oem wheels and I put kw v1 on the car I ran into an issue on the front where the suspension rubbed and I needed a 5mm spacer to clear and I was out of a car for a few days until I got the spacers.. I DO NOT want to run into this issue again..

I'd rather not play the buy them to be safe game..

Thanks in advance

Compare the offset of your current M3 rims with the ones you had before on the 330ci.

The body of the two cars in terms of fender gap is pretty much exactly the same is it not?

Because the housing is so close to the wheel on the BMW/Mini cars spacers will be needed. In most cases 5mm is enough. But it will vary.

Majority of users will need spacers when running ST or KW coilovers. 5mm as stated above is typically enough to prevent rubbing. Most choose to go ahead and push the wheels out a little further when adding the spacers. On stock 18s 12.5mm and 15mm is considered a safe combo which doesn't rub the fenders, while moving the wheels away from the struts.
