Illinois Gun Ban introduced today

Here's a heads up to the IL folks on here... Contact who you can. I already know Sen. Dave Syverson has posted he's against it and apparently has spoke against it.

It's a long read, but a MUST for IL residents:

I can't believe those idiots actually introduced this...

Any politician that attempts to draft this type of legislature should be dragged into the town square, tarred and featured

the state has a silent "s" at the end, it is retarded like David Gibson.

That is an interesting set of rules considering the USSC just struck down the Chicago gun ban and stated that individual gun ownership applies at the state level. I suppose they are leaving some firearms still available for ownership (muskets, 10 rd semi autos, etc) but they are taking full advantage of recent mass shootings to essentially impose AWB style legislation at the state level.

Glad I don't live in IL, but my family has a lot of land there, so I'll make sure they are contacting their representatives.

I moved from IL too, but still have family & friends there - only moved 30min north of the border, so I made it known on Facebook what was up.

I'd still like to be able to take my guns across the border....

Sentaruu 01-03-2013 03:51 PM

apparently in illinois you can't bring a buddy to the range under that law. In order to discharge a firearm at a range, you have to have an owner's card.

NOVAbimmer 01-03-2013 06:29 PM

and apparently police and prison wardens can still buy whatever the hell they want. Lovely.

CollinsE90 01-03-2013 06:33 PM

I hope they propose a ban for all weapons, or enough that hurts them. That way it gets tossed and they'll have to wait for another news event to push for another ban. They're pretty dumb, and I bet they go too far. People have already started to forget the school shooting, and they won't have anymore support.

Sentaruu 01-03-2013 06:36 PM

yea fortunately enough the media has conditioned people to get bored easily of old news and crave new things to obsess about

also the fiscal cliff bs took a lot of attention off of the guns for a while, i dont know if thats a good thing or not yet

Current laws you either have to have a FOID, be under direct supervision of a FOID holder. This proposed bill restricts it a lot more... I think there was wording in there in regards to "private" ranges, but thats all I remember off the top of my head here...

Don't take this the wrong way, but the media milked that one for all it's worth.

Good news is that it took the attention off now, and then coming up quick the whole debt ceiling will take over. Give it a little time, we'll be back to AR's in stock and collecting dust...

Act of God 01-03-2013 07:47 PM

At this point I hope they overreach and go for a wholesale gun grab...the backlash will be hilarious and swift

perfectpint 01-03-2013 08:19 PM

I was going to quote all the unconstitutional and completely ridiculous parts, but it would be all of it, its so damn assinine what these morons continue to push for.
