Local Walmart limiting Ammo purchase

Local Walmart had 10 boxes of 9mm. Decided to buy a few boxes but they limited it to 5 boxes per customer with a limit of one per UPC.

Called corporate and filed a complaint. An assistant manager told me his store manager can do whatever he wanted in his own store. Is that correct?

Assistant store manager sold me two boxes.

I hate Walmart.

My local walmart always had an restriction that was never enforced. **** I just wiped them out of ammo last week.

a lot of places i've seen are limiting the amount of ammo/mags and things of that nature. i guess they are trying to stop people from hoarding and buying out the shelves like right after the shootings. and as long as its the same limit for every person, then i dont really see an issue. go back later and buy more?

MpoweredM 01-04-2013 04:53 PM

Yup. They only sold me 6 boxes of .45 the other day too.

al0513 01-04-2013 05:03 PM

I plan on it. My issue is that they are limiting it to one UPC...they only had one kind of 9mm.

When I asked the assistant manager why.. He said they have to save it for the cops. I said so my money isn't as good as the cops?

It's not a company wide rule. He said the store manager can do whatever he wants.

You got lucky. I only wanted 3.

Sentaruu 01-04-2013 05:09 PM

no offense, but i'd rather the cop have the ammo before you or i. lord knows a lot of them need target practice

ANREC330 01-04-2013 05:10 PM

Same happened to me a couple weeks back. Good thing bass pro shop is just 5 minutes away.

MpoweredM 01-04-2013 05:25 PM

So cops, buying it for personal use? That's retarded.

Sentaruu 01-04-2013 05:30 PM

i know some le that have to purchase their own practice ammo and duty weapons.

al0513 01-04-2013 05:40 PM

Right, I wouldn't mind letting the cops have ammo. Just saying that I couldn't buy a few boxes is ridiculous. Also, I've heard that it is the cops that have been hoarding. They would go into the stores in the wee hours of morning after the shelves have been stocked, and buy what they want.

That's irrelevant. Just like my job, I shouldn't get special treatment to buy what I need for work. Just my opinion. Hardly worth .02

The cop reason is flat out stupid.

I, however, have no issues with limiting the amount that can bought per person as long as it is always enforced the same.

How about AR-15 Pmags. One Gander Mountain is limiting them to 2-per customer. The other Gander Mountain near me - but a touch further away got 20 of them in today... one ****er bought them all.:banghead:.

AmazingNutz 01-04-2013 06:46 PM

Ban ammos.

They do this so some jackass can't buy all the ammo and stockpile it. Myself, I shoot every week at the range. Pisses me off as a range shooter that I can't find ammo because some asshat buys it all, stockpiles it, or sells it on armslist for an obnoxious price. Right now, people are buying ammo that do not even have a gun.

Reedo302 01-05-2013 12:18 AM

Walmart and several other stores did this after Obammy was elected in 2008. Ammunition sales didn't cool off until mid-2009.
Honestly, I'm not against it. It prevents people from hoarding ammo. It sucks when you legitimately want it to shoot, but a LOT of people are hoarding for the sake of hoarding. People need to realize that ammunition won't be banned, and really never has. There are a LOT of people who honestly think there's going to be a revolution in a couple months. There are also people who honestly believe a zombie apocalypse will happen. Seriously.

Meh, I don't care really, but it's ineffective. I just get how much I can and get a buddy to go in and do the same. Repeat until I have as much as I want. Maybe buy a tshirt and a hat, change, wait for a new clerk to show up, and then buy more of it. Doesn't really have much of an effect on me being able to clear them out at will...just inconveniences me a bit.

Reedo302 01-05-2013 12:36 AM

Yeah, it's pretty easy to circumvent.

Does your range not provide ammo? My local range/gun shop provides all types of ammo and does not appear to be low on stock. At least, it wasn't like 3 days ago when I went shooting.
