New shocks
My rear suspension has been making some clunky noise for a bit now. I think the rear shock mounts are bad. I am also thinking about replacing the shocks as they have never been replaced in 120k miles. I have yellow koni adjustables that I am planning on installing.

Do you think it would be okay to just replace the rears? I don't have front struts or the funds right now to refresh the fronts. In other words, is it okay to mix the front and rear shocks with different brands? (Fronts - stock sports, Rears - Koni yellow adjustable)

I'm sure have a different brand of rear shocks is better than having a bad set of shocks on the rear. I'm sure you will be fine.

We recommend that our customers use the same model shock/strut front and rear. You cannot get the maximum performance from the shock when you mix and match models/brands of shocks.

New rears and different, 120K old front struts could be down right dangerous!
Caution and let us know what happens. I've done this while waiting for the fronts to come in and boy was I glad when they did!

My shocks have 120,000 miles on them and I still track the car... they're not anything approaching "dangerous". The car does not handle as new, but neither does it show any signs of lacking control that -say- your grandmother would notice.

What is with everyone beating up on old struts...? My 735iL had 354,000km on the struts and THEY were downright dangerous, but there was a clear difference.
