It is sad that ESPN felt the need to apologize though, especially after repeatadly showing her and AJ's mother. They knew exactly what they were doing, were they expecting the announcers to just sit there in quiet each time the cameras showed them? Since when did the word 'beautiful' become a "major personal violation" as Sue Carter was quoted as saying the New York Times...

If he would have been off color in any of his comments I could understand. Calling a woman beautiful is as respectful as it gets and there isn't anything wrong with commenting on a woman's beauty.

It was hilarious how excited he got. I don't see why an apology was necessary. But, given there's a ~50 are difference, he did come off as a creepy old guy lusting after a college student...on national television.

ESPN didn't apologize for the production staff showing her during the game, with graphics ready to point out which face in the crowd. Are they trying to imply that showing her was somehow appropriate, but commenting about her was not?

The blogger cited above is correct, if she was average looking, they'd have paid her no attention, or she would have just been in a family shot with no fanfare.

Musberger did nothing wrong. This whole thing is silly.

This girl can thank Andy Sidaris for her publicity. He was the one who pioneered pointing the camera to the crowd at hot chicks back in the day.
