apparently the kid had access to his dad's gun. It was beneficial in this case.

The teenager grabbed his father's assault rifle and knew what to do with it.
:evil::dunno:

Wait, he used an assault rifle? How big of a hole did he blow in the side of his house? This is what the media leads me to believe it does :)

badfast 01-10-2013 07:42 PM

Love the wording. Good for him though. A father who properly trained his children not only how to handle a weapon, but how to react.

Great. Happy to see a story like this

Had he had a pistol the outcome would have most certainly been different.

Do you have any idea how much easier it is to shoot a rifle under stress and hit your target than a pistol? Get a clue

He watches CNN bro...he might as well be a combat hardened veteran.

What kind of a moron would break into the home of a police officer ?
Probably the same one that would break into a home that has a sticker on the front door that says 'I don't dial 911'.

hah if you read the article they had already burglarized the area leading up to this.. Might as well let them know you're coming!

Xcelratr 01-11-2013 01:18 AM

That's among the most poorly-written news articles I've ever read. And they usually set a pretty low standard.

I think the reporter must have invested tens of minutes investigating and wordsmithing that story.

Godsgiftowomen 01-11-2013 02:01 AM

Pretty amusing . I grew up in that county

mkodama 01-11-2013 02:17 AM

Good for that family. Hopefully the kid isn't traumatized from the situation.

For some reason it makes worry about the neighbors getting a few bullet holes in their homes and putting them in danger though. Good to know only the burglars got hit.

You two are a joke. I have not shot anyone. Have either of you?

I have fired multiple guns, including a shotgun, rifle, and a pistol.

Furthermore, two of my older family members who are still in the army believe that the public should not require anything more than a pistol/hunting rifle/shotgun. No automatic or semi-automatic. Have either of you served?

It's funny that lots of the NRA members have never had anything to do with the military.

Edit: sigh: fully or semi automatic. Anything that can fire a burst. I'm done here. This place is a haven for gun owners with a bent view of reality. All this site does is make y'all feel better about yourselves. I'm happy for you, you've all found others just like you.

Semi auto does not mean burst fire.

With the power of elements, gun nuts unite!

CoconutPete 01-11-2013 08:01 AM

So semi automatic = burst fire now? Dang... what did I miss?

What I meant was burst fire. I don't claim to be all knowing regarding guns. Instead, I defer to higher powers with lots of experience using guns, knowing what one needs to defend themselves, what they do not, and the devastating power of guns. These military folks tell me how it should be- and guess what- I believe them! And some things get lost in the translation, as I don't know all that much.

They are more educated than most of you gun toting civilian fools on this very subject.
