Not really a BMW, but it is German: The On-Road AllRoad

Still slightly BMW related, but only just! Started a new project and here's where it's at!

Coming from BMWs this this is just a masterpiece example of how you can put so much into a vehicle and have it all go terribly wrong... but I've always wondered how one of these flared out flagships would look slammed! That and I had a spare set of M3 wheels that I wanted to use :D

- 2001 Audi AllRoad 2.7T
- 198k miles
- 42 Draft Designs 15mm Wheel Adapters
- (4) BMW M3 18x9.5 wheels with 225/40R18 Blizzak/Ice Bear Snows
- ST Coil Overs
- 25 Front Control Arms
- And A whole lot of Bull 5hit

A6 Allroad, NICE!

How did those wheels bolt up? Adapters?

VALMONT 01-14-2013 06:58 PM

a little headlight restore will take years of the appearance.

J-SON 01-14-2013 09:44 PM

Yeah 15 mm 5x112 to 5x120 adapters. They fit perfect with 15 mm but im sure u can do 20-25 with these wheels an tires.

The headlights could def use some sanding and buffing lol. Unfortunately those are next right after the reverse gear problem, the broken mirror, the axles, the mushed in rear quarter panel and fender, ball joints, egt sensor, and the list goes on lolololol! Though it is a nice simple project... hmmmmm i like it! Trip to the body shop is in order!:woot:

I love the way these look, but dont get one if you a. Cant stomach constant and expensive problems and b. Like being able to actually work on your car without something stupid being broken/breaking.

Side note: Stretched low profile tires and ride quality... Nope, not gonna happen.

looks good. is that on the factory air suspension? ive always loved these allroads.

coming from an audi, i know all about their headache... esp the pre 2004 models. Had numerous 2.7T motors in my time. Great motor but too many issues with all the surrounding parts. The allroad is great too but it's not without its evil. I see you got coilover so you got the major issue out of the way. next thing to fix is the creaking in the front end and make sure you clean your moonroof drain. its known to clog and cause massive rust. Good luck with it!

J-SON 01-28-2013 11:49 AM

All coil overs. And yes, it was quite possibly the most expensive suspension setups I've seen in a while lol. Hell, between all the sensors, bags, stuts, compressors, and controllers it was easily over 6k in parts lol. Glad to see it go.

Bottom line, pretty much parallels what you said ^^^, is that they are awesome cars, awesome AWD, good looks, engineering marvel, but stoooopid expensive ROFL!
