Can't get away with anything anymore

Today, a close family member of mine received a ticket in the mail for running a red light. He clearly remembers going through it when it was yellow. Enclosed with the ticket were three pictures of the Cadillac he was driving. One from the front, one from the back, and one zoomed in on the license plate. This happened in one of the most congested intersections in Fort Lauderdale Florida , but I wonder if these cameras do this everywhere?

So you either have to get though the yellow as quickly as possible or lock your tires...I choose the first one!

They have them all over PHX, only suckers pay when they get "cited" though.

Silver_Surfer 01-17-2013 07:42 PM

We have speed cameras in DC, they are also planning on installing stop sign cameras.

Alot of controversy about the ones here in jersey.

TruckDaddy 01-17-2013 07:50 PM

Yea, they do it almost through all of SoFla. If you visit their website, you can even see video of you running the light. If it's a close call get a ticket lawyer and fight it.

They shorten the duration of the yellow light below DOT regulation. There is only 2 things you can do, lock up your brakes and end up in the intersection and receive a ticket, or floor it and receive a ticket.

If you pay, no points.

If you take it to court and lose, you get points on your license.

That's how it is in Florida at least, and if your front wheels are over the white line prior to turning red, you are fine.

I went though one today " shrugs". For some reason, I never get caught, lol.

The durations of yellow lights definitely need to be prolonged. Few vehicles can come to a safe/complete stipe from 40-50 MPH in only 60 or 70 feet.

*stop

We had em here in Houston but rallied against them. Needless to say the people won and no more red light cameras!!

Grande D 01-17-2013 08:09 PM

I got one of those. It tells you the "time red" when the picture was captured. Mine was 0.2s.

more easy money

v8 5 01-17-2013 08:12 PM

ok it's because you drive wrong

I come up to the lane in 1st gear at 4000RPM and keep a 1/3 distance between the car infront of me, and by time he gets to mid way in the intersection I should be within stopping distance of the light but able to make it, so I floor it at 4000RPM and quickly close the gap between me and the car infront of me like when I road in my buddies with 350hp and he switched highways at wot scared tge piss out of me felt as fast other bodies 500hp supra awesome car they are rare hopefully they will bring them back rx8s r ok but I don't like tge rear doors and odd shape and lackbof turbos

FastHackem 01-17-2013 08:18 PM

Da fuq. Long ass sentence.

Zell 01-17-2013 08:23 PM

I hate those. Sometimes they have the gall to call them "Safety cameras."

 They cause more accidents than they prevent.

You slam on your brakes at a yellow because you don't want to risk a ticket and risk the guy behind you slamming into you.

One person here got a red light ticket, it ended up being a really high-quality and good photo. He used it as his sig :lmao: I wish I could find the thread again.
