Refinished my friend's 10/22

Friend of mine scored a 10/22 last week, but the stock was all scratched up. He went to the store to buy a new one, but they were out of stock. A customer overheard him ask for one, and told him he has one for sale. So...took the stocker....

Stripped the stain and gave it a light sand to get it bare....

Then gave it a gentle rubbing of 10 coats of linseed oil...

We were quite pleased with the results. I'm going to pick one up myself tomorrow :D

Stunning! I love the light finish; it really brings the grain out

Im a huge fan on light wood. Car dashboard trim, rifles, etc. It's not the best wood in the world as far as grain, but it's still pretty friggin sweet. :D

We didn't seal it though. I wasn't sure if you can seal over linseed oil.

Looks great. Did you sand between coats?

No, but we should have. It would have been a flawless finish rather than a 8 out of 10.
