Free weight dips? I'm in! I'll let DylloS post his best, then I'll go. I'll shoot to double whatever his number is. :P

Honestly bodyweight dips are really easy for me, I start my drop set at 25 reps. It would be more of a challenge to see who can dip their body weight + weight.

Yeah I think free weight is probably the best way to do it.. otherwise you'll have people doing it with no weight, others with weight.. and then it just puts it all over the place. I have to imagine 25 would be LOOOOOOOW for someone like you :hi:

I honestly thought this would be a contest to see who could PlastiDip the most car parts.

Tonight I will record dip and pullups. I can do about 15 with strict form.

PS chest or tricep dips?

I've never gone for a max number of dips. I perform sets with 70 lbs. of extra weight. I'm guessing that I can do 50+ with my own body weight. :dunno: Right now it's an unknown.

I know that I can do about 90 stict push-ups in a minute, and more than 100 in one set.

I'll do ring dips tomorrow and post a video. I think they're a bit harder but I have no access to a good regular dip station. I'll try to make sure my form is good but I may end up kicking at the end a bit lol.

Do body weight dips and then add weight for a second go. I have no idea where I'll land on this one but I figure it willb e nice to keep track of progress

What's "strict" form? Full arm lock to what, 90 degree elbows?

For dips....

.....at least going from straight arms, to 90-degree parallel or deeper if you like a deeper dip. I don't know that there is any way to fully cheat a dip, but none of that back arching/momentum stuff.

90 degree elbows, elbows tucked in nice and close to torso, full elbow lock in upright position, no swinging or using your torso to promote travel.

And we have entry #1. It has officially begun! My entry will come tomorrow AFTER DylloS posts his, and it will be after I front squat/military press (..which I plan to video because I'm going for a Military Press PR of 4 reps @ 250 lbs.).

dabears 01-25-2013 05:13 PM

LOL at the dude beside you! that is the very DEFINITION of wasting time in the gym.

I tried to convince someone to come work out with me today so I could film pullups... no dice :(

How many reps are you doing at 70lbs? I can usually rip off 15 at 50lbs, then about 10-8-8-7 after that. Probably going to step up the weight soon.
