Mating calls

Do humans have mating calls? I am dead serious. I understand the biology behind how our bodies react when trying to "woo" someone but do humans have a specific mating call?

AfghanScarface 01-26-2013 09:29 PM

Im sure certain voice tonalities cause different reactions. Its been proven women are more sexually attracted to men with deeper voices. Just talking in the right tonality and volume is a mating call in and of itself.

Could be Harmonic Content (timbre)

Example: What differentiates how we perceive the difference of an "A" note played on a Piano versus that same note and octave played on a Violin.
Its the same note, but it has a different timbre, and therefore a different vibe.

Confidence is the human mating call.

So if that is the case what would be a good "wooing" note/range in which one would try to entice a female?

If you have ever taken a public speaking class, they talk a lot about drawing your voice from the diaphram rather than the actual vocal chords. I suppose that would be a good way to start.

awesomechinz 01-27-2013 08:52 PM

So I am supposed to call them from my diaphragm? How does one do that?

dmax 01-27-2013 09:07 PM

You can get a device that implants near your diaphragm and for a small monthly cost, you could call from it. Cowmoo knows about it...he's getting one implanted next month I think.

Your 'mating call' is just part of the courtship 'dance'...same as every animal--in birds, the males are brightly colored; in lower mammals, it's size and aggressiveness a lot; and in humans, part of the 'call' is how you dress, how you sound, how you look, car you drive, etc.

I wouldn't bother with the implant or changing the way you speak to 'get' a woman. Be yourself and be confident in who you are...either way you win. You get a girl that likes you, or you don't get one that doesn't like you.

Oh, but you can try this trick...I'd always have Barry White playing softly on my phone in my pocket when hitting on the ladies. It didn't matter what I said--they couldn't really hear Barry, but they felt his presence...with the right volume, it's like you've got a soundtrack and they think you're a movie star. I won't tell you the song to play...sort of a trade secret. Sorry.

+1

Confidence goes a long way

I usually just walk around bars saying "swag" over and over and it works really well.

2000_328CI 01-28-2013 08:28 AM

It's not about what you say, it's about how you say it... And that includes everything from pacing, tempo, inflection in your voice, etc.

Try this... Record yourself speaking and play it back.. Analyze how you sound and if you'd like to sound different. By slowing down and speaking from your diaphragm, you'll increase range, power, and the perceived confidence.

Don't speak like a mouse from your vocal chords.. No girl wants a guy who is unsure of himself.

Yeah I had a hard time understanding that part in the class as well. Your diaphram is around your navel area, when you talk your voice should resonate from the diaphram rather than from the throat, which is where most people draw their voice from. Look up a few youtube vids on it. Once you learn to speak deeply from your diaphram you will notice girls turnig around to see who the voice is from when you ask a question in class or order that drink at starbucks. A voice with the right tonality, inflection, timing etc is a mini-opener in itself.

I would also take Chase's advice and slow down the speech. Unless you are literally speaking like a retard, your speech can never be too slow, calm or deliberate. Have you ever heard Clint Eastwood talk fast? Me either.

dmax 01-28-2013 12:26 PM

The old Jedi mind trick...good one!

Or, you can use this call...don't tell anyone...

"I think you're beautiful, I enjoyed talking with you yesterday, and I was wondering if you'd care to join me for dinner?"

or

"I think you're beautiful, would love to talk with you more, and was hoping you'd join me for dinner sometime?"

or in a supermarket vegetable aisle, with a perfectly straight face, you ask a woman, "do you know how to tell if a cucumber is ripe? I mean, should it be soft or hard?"

You guys...so young, so innocent.

It's really what you say, not how you say it, at least that's what it is in the long run. You will not want to be with a woman for long if she falls for the 'speaking from the diaphragm trick'--at least, I don't think so.

Oh, another thing you could do that I've found successful is read a book called "Salt" and talk to her about the history of salted herring. If she seems interested at all...that's the one for you!

Would 'you' want to bang Clint? I certainly wouldn't. Besides, I'm keeping the list of guys I want to bang to an even dozen. I'm more into LTRs, so don't think I'd even get through half of them before I die.

I think a good half of the guys in our Poli Forum would want to though...heard some of them mutter something about a toe tapping code. I knew what they meant right away. tsk

awesomechinz 01-28-2013 03:16 PM

Haha ok thanks guys. I was just wondering, in my rare moments of universe questioning, why humans lack mating calls and what would be potential mating calls.

Apparently we flirt to woo so there really is no real mating call but rather a series of sounds pieced together in a way that appeals to each individual woman.. Sigh I hate conclusions such as this

It's 2013. No one calls. Everything is by text.

If "I" was a female and it was 1969-1979, then most likely :dunno:
