Rush Limbaugh proposes all-women battalions with synchronized menstrual cycles AUDIO

On his Friday radio show, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh took on one of the hurdles he maintains would be a problem with women in combat zones — how to keep them from getting pregnant.

Limbaugh offered an idea he said he came up with in the early 1990s, when there was a similar effort underway to integrate women in the military into combat situations: put a group of women together until their menstrual cycles are in sync.

“There’s an easy way to do it,” Limbaugh said. “Now here’s what we know — we know that women who live together or who are housed together, dormitories for example, sororities — after a certain passage of time, and this is one of the marvels of creation. No one can explain it, but it happens — menstrual cycles happen to synchronize. You can get mad at me all you want for saying it, but it happens to be true. And it’s not a put-down and it’s not taking away from any individuality of any woman. It just happens.”

Once that happens, he suggested they all be housed together and thus, the problems of pregnancy would be solved.

“So, what we do — we create, we call it the All-American First Cavalry Amazon Battalion, and we segregate women enough in various bases, barracks so that you have synchronized menstrual cycles timed in such a way so that on any day of the year, you are guaranteed to have a fighting female force all in PMS — all during premenstrual syndrome. You can do it because they synchronize the cycles.”

He also added there would be the bonus of women being “damn good during combat” given their hormonal condition.

“No matter when you need them, you’re always going to have a combat-ready battalion of women on PMS,” he continued. “Pregnancy problem solved. And pretty damn good during combat at the same time. Talk to any man, not being sexist here, just dealing with reality. That’s how you do it.”
Is this guy on PCP? :loco:

The head of the EPA creates fictitious personnel to conduct shady business without having to be held accountable for it, and THIS is what the left wants to talk about

I know this may come as a shocker, but people are able to think about and focus on more than one thing at once

Libs at least.

Conservatives seem fixated on casting about desperately for that one GREAT SCANDAL to sink that Kenyan usurper (twice now that he's been re-elected) to the Presidency. Not saying that Dems are in any way beyond scandal, they obviously aren't, but Repubs simply invest far too much hope in this muck racking as a political tactic, distracting them from far more productive pursuits.

Rather than somehow, anyhow, trying to tear down the other guy/side, they ought to devote their energies and thinking on raising their own ideology and policies to actually appeal to a majority of Americans. Given that they've lost the popular vote in 5 of the last six presidential elections would seem to indicate that this would be a far more pressing issue to them going forward rather than ever trying to inflate some third-tier misdeed into the next ____Gate.

Back to OP, so Limbaugh feels he hasn't yet done enough to belittle, demean and denigrate women than he already has? And the GOP wonders why women voters (the majority of our population) vote overwhelmingly against them, especially younger women voters who represent the future American electorate? Perhaps if he didn't see and treat women as little more than walking wombs, fixating on little but their reproductive aspects, but rather, as full American citizens, then the GOP's electoral and demographic future might not look so bleak.

Unfortunately, if Limbaugh's most recent loutish statements are any example and still reflect some significant slice of the GOP, there is still a lot more old-guard conservatives that need to fade away before some more vital, modern and sensible variety take their place.

To answer the OP question as to whether or not Rush is on PCP.....probably not unless he can get that via prescription (fraud). :eeps:

phrozen06 01-28-2013 01:32 PM

And the GOP Leadership is Scared to Speak against Limbuagh no matter what he says. They can claim all they want that he doesn't influence public policy but HE DOES, and.........I would say that he is one of the Party Bosses.

I thought it was pretty funny, and clearly hyperbole.

Yes, his particular schtick on this, but that it's so hard to tell with Limbaugh is itself telling. Even given that, the underlying condescending and misogynist sentiment is still there, even if papered over with a bit of, let's call it humor. Worse is that a large part of his audience seems to take him verbatim, with only a faintest sense of the possible underlying hyperbole.

Yeah, Rush is just a rotund entertainer, but one that deeply reflects a lot of the sentiments of the GOP base, even if regurgitated as ostensible humor.

If a lib said it everyone would be laughing. Because a conservative said it, it's the most heinous evil thing that's ever been said. Lighten up Francis. Why are liberals always so angry about everything?

Rhumb 01-30-2013 09:04 AM

Which is just the point, a lib wouldn't say such a thing believing it was somehow funny.

Perhaps this was funny to a misogynist subset of America where this statement basically tickles their own sexist predilections and is seen only as a slight exaggeration of a basic truth rather than some hyperbolic teardown of that basic sexist premise. Rather than humorously tearing down this discriminatory wall to women in the military through humorous hyperbolic exaggeration, Rush, is denigrating that very effort to tear it down and comes off, again, as a crude, loutish and misogynist relic of the past. Rush's long and dreary history of similar such aspersions (and worse) regarding women only reinforce this interpretation and context.

Two people can tell the same joke. What makes it funny is the delivery. And you can hear in Rush's voice that he actually believes to some degree what he says. It goes from being funny to you praying he's only joking.

330iPilot 01-31-2013 10:08 AM

Since you didn't hear it then how do you know how it was delivered? I did and it was obviously a joke. You guys need to get over yourselves.

I'm sure if I was as open minded as Rush I would have thought it was funny too.
