I call forth the power of OT

I know I am not very active on here and I just recently changed my user name on here. I used to be JRoss22. But I have a huge favor of you all to ask.

I am a hospital corpsman in the Navy and I used to work on the pediatric floor at the Naval hospital in San Diego up until this last month. During my time I became very close to a few kids that had and have cancer still. My last month I was working there I lost one of my favorite patients he gave up his battle at the young age of 17 and had been fighting the battle since he was 14. I found out that his mom had participated in St. Baldrick's which helps raise money for research for childrens cancer. So I just registered to shave my head at the next event here in SD. I set a low goal to help raise $150 I know its not a lot but I am being optimistic that I will get close to the goal. Any help would be appreciated.

10:53pm Thread was posted.......

If you know me, you know what that means.

When I wake up, I'll cover whatever is still left to meet your goal.

Thanks for doing this

I don't believe in donating to most "large" organizations, I rather donate to individuals or a "personal" touch.

Plus I have a very soft spot for kids.

OP: couldn't sleep, donation sent and congrats on meeting your goal
Next time, set it a little higher ;)

Edit: IN FOR shaved head pics!

awesome

Great cause. I'll throw a little your way as well.

I'm also doing a cancer event in a few months, so it's nice to see that people on this forum care.

Donated. Thank you for doing this.

Booyeah - I just doubled your total - never too late for a tax write off :)

Grande D 02-12-2013 10:08 AM

You guys! Now I'm feeling insecure about my donation.

Nah - it all adds up. Every $1, $5, etc - the child that benefits has no idea which dollar came from where, nor does that child care - every dollar helps.

Things such as this still allow me to have hope in individuals. Knowing that people still exist who have a deeper degree of good inside of them, willing to help out others...even others who they have nothing more in common with than being a member of an online forum. OP thank you for doing this, great gesture on your part. To those who have already donated; support such as that shown makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :luv: Will donate once I get a break in work, keep it up e46OT :hi:

For anyone who cares, this charity rates well on charitynavigator.
