yes for sure

ImolaSix 03-15-2013 02:54 AM

Interesting. Is this a clutch type or a geared LSD?

peytonracer4 03-15-2013 03:44 AM

As far as I know, clutch. I've yet to find out all the details. I just emailed the guy tonight. Hopefully he gets back to me tomorrow

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just bolt a m3 rear in?

The problem with that is that you're stuck with a 3.62 gear ratio which is way too aggressive for a 5 speed.

Not really. It's $1000 (if you get a deal) to $1700 for an m3 rear. Then you have to deal with the increased offset. I can't do that because I have somewhat expensive wheels that are perfect fitment for my car.
And not everyone wants the aggressive 3.46 or 3.62 or 4.10 ratio. I, personally, very much like my stock ratio.

Agreed, 5 speed may not be ideal.

Yeah. I really like mpg. Just about as much as I like performance. So if I can get a stock ratio LSD I would be entirely happy.
I want it for autocross. But I would very much like to keep close to stock gearing. I'm sure there's a lot out there that feel the same way.
IMO even the stock gearing is slightly high. 3000 rpm at 70ish mph is high

Does DSC need to be modified to account for the LSD?

2000_328CI 03-15-2013 08:02 AM

If it were plug and play, I'd be in.

No modification to the DSC for a LSD, the DSC will intervene less often due to the increased traction available.

YOLO89 03-15-2013 09:21 AM

+1 I'd be interested

lcoleman 03-15-2013 09:30 AM

I don't see how you're going to get one at that price unless it's cheap. Even those OBX cores on fleabay are like $400...then you have to install.

katu 03-15-2013 09:31 AM

Less than $1000? Interested!

Right. DSC will intervene if the car exceeds a given yaw rate. DTC will intervene if any wheel has excessive speed for any given situation, kind of like an electronic brake-induced LSD.

Could there be a situation where DTC kicks in due to wheel spin and "fights" the LSD? Like accelerating quickly on a low-traction surface (wet, snow, gravel) and having DSC+DTC on.

Grande D 03-15-2013 09:57 AM

Wanganstyle can do it for under $2k iirc.

Also- either performance gearing or diffs online used to have a LSD for under $2k.

I'd probably be interested- but I'd need details before I could commit.
