Tire pressure for 05 330i zhp ? HELP

I have conti 255/35zr 18 tires the tire pressure on the car says 46 front and 49 rear is that correct for this style tire?

where on the car are you getting this info

This is what I see in my 2003 owners manual:

Tire size: normal / Max load
Front-225/40 ZR 18 32 / 39
Rear -255/35 ZR 18 38 / 46

Looks like you can download the 2005 330i owners manual from BMW USA:
http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...modelcode=0542

It lists slightly different pressures and includes pressures for speeds > 100 MPH

Also if your tires are SL (standard Load) or XL (extra load) will effect the max load tire pressure the tire supports. (not the max inflation pressure on the side of the tire)

I think you're looking at maximum values for inflation. I would stick with the values outlined in the manual and adjust accordingly using the chalk method for track days.

EDIT: I like what I saw here so i'm adding it to my post. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=670476.

He outlines the chalk method very well in the thread.

A good DD cold tire compromise is 35 lbs which I have not had any problems with.

tire pressure from BMW is known to be listed as higher than most use.

46 and 49 are definitely high. I run 33 front and 38 rear.

I run 33 front and rear. Seems to hit the sweet spot.

40+ is too high. 33 and 38 would be better options for you.
