Ambers or clears?!

1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone I'm having a difficult desicion on whether or not I should go to the clear corner and side markers or leave them? I'm installing some new euro LED tail lights very soon and am unsure what would look better on my car? Here is a pic... Please comment/help. Opinions are appreciated! Attachment 519432

I've never been a fan of amber lights, so clear or smoked would be my vote, especially on a black car.

AJP330i 07-31-2013 02:48 PM

Smoked..

E46DrEaMeR 07-31-2013 02:51 PM

I have black with led bulbs they would look good on a black car too

zeppelin4 07-31-2013 02:57 PM

personally im a fan of higher contrast stuff so id go clear for your car, but for a silver or white paint job id do smoked lights

Never been a fan of amber either, one of the first things I did was swap out for clear corners and sides with led tails.

Solo118 07-31-2013 03:00 PM

Leave them as is. For some reason I like pre facelift with amber

buy a cheap pair of clears and see if you like them! if not stick em on ebay and put the ambers back....simples

OP, it's not hard at all. First, Solo was right, and especially with NY plates...amber matches perfectly.

I'm thinking of moving to Colorado to get plates to match my paint.

Just yesterday, some woman coming out of a supermarket saw my car and said to me...I swear..."ooooo...ambers on an e46. I miss my old 328i so much. Would you think it odd if I asked if I could stroke your ambers?"

Freaked me out...like I was on Fanatics or something.

Anyway, OP, I can tell, this silly superficial decision is simply masking your fear of doing real work on your car. You have 6,352 miles left on your ACC tensioner pulley, and the alligatoring in the belts is concerning. Your left rear tire is down .5 psi and, sorry, but your coolant needs to be drained, as do your diff, trans, brakes, ps. Your cabs are on the verge and your rubber needs gummi pflege badly (not to be used internally! fn guys keep forgetting.)

Start with Techron; use as directed...again, no, you don't drink this stuff.

what color are the tails going to be?
personally i'd go clears all around. it's (pretty much) what BMW used on their sporty model lines. it's because they knew it looks better.

Ambers or clears?!

LED Euro style tail lights will be used. Clear/red looking ones. I'm feeling a little more towards the clears now.

seeing how BMW never put LEDs on sedan tails i'm still not sure of the ones you speak of.
But if Clear/Red are the lenses like you say then "Clears" are the ones to go with.
besides with your silver headlamp insert/surround the clears match the whole unit better.

No, that was the problem. She wanted to rub my ambers. I'm polite and have a sense of humor on rare occasion, so I said, "sure."

She rubbed my ambers. I asked her if she wanted some polishing cream (had some in my trunk kit). Point of the story, Zepo, is that she didn't make a single comment about what I call my Fern Green. Next.

[Okay...how many knew I totally made this up? That I don't have green tires? And the rubber tape I carry in my trunk is for fixing?]

You're so innocent, Zep...now I feel bad.

I'm pretty sure the LED taillights are the same ones which will prompt a thread in about a week!

BTW, OP, I'm sorry for trolling you, but I'm trying to save you...maybe you don't need it. Where would you say you are in Mangofying your car? I'm at about 16% coz I didn't lubricate my hoses like he does, and hose care is so fn high on his list.

You know of whom I speak, don't you. Our Grand Superpatriot Sport +. He does sermons for us in OT every Wednesday night...you should check it out.

A real sermon...sermon on the mount...and he literally streams himself, right there on motor mounts...well, just the one mount. He really likes his car's parts...like a lot.
