This is not my own experience, but a friend who had PSS9's installed on his E46 323Ci totally liked them. You can adjust the rate so it can be nearly as comfortable as the stock ride or very stiff.

If you intend to replace both shocks and springs, I'd definitely consider Bilstein PSS9 Coilovers. For springs only, I would probably go with Eibach Pro-Kit.
