The main reason for plastic over metal is weight. Every air bag added raises vehicle weight, and they are all in a mileage war, so they lighten up whatever they can.

I'm getting ready to put another engine in my '01 325xiT. Bentley manual says to drop the transmission. Just wondering if I have to as I am doing this in my driveway. Thank you
