No we dont have leaded fuel anymore and You were right, since 2000 or something like that....

I did it as on picture, this is my LCM, i have only rear fogs, with two fog buttons it is the same, just use two LEDs and connect it to PCB around the switches.

the scrolls are difficult to disasemble, You will have to desolder the potentiometers and then remove the plastic holder and You will see LEDs :)

guys, just use standard LEDs, dont care about voltages, supply voltage is always around 3V +/- 0,5 so the important things are just brightnes :)

Well i had the same problem on X5 the LEDs were tiny, but i had several leds so i used 0805 i guess. these are smaller and You can, with little patience, solder them on positions :D

I suggest to use leds with more mCd and then adjust the brightness by changing resistors if necessarry.
Other thing is to make separate PWM for controlling the brightness of the cluster only.
