Fuse 54 on an e46 main fuse panel is for the fuel pump. You might tap into it's wiring to install the switch.

That's a pusher fan, which is the electric fan in front of the radiator. Most people remove that fan when they do the conversion, which opens up a lot of space for air to flow to the radiator.
