Just an update: turned out the torque converter was fubared. This time they replaced it with a brand new TC instead of a rebuilt one, under warranty. Class A service from Bimmersport Automotive.

Have you tried a complete drive cycle? O2 sensors should throw a code if there's an issue. Had to replace my post-cat O2 sensor recently because it couldn't heat the element, and it threw an error.
