Agreed, but if you service them before the races get damaged, not an issue. Yes plastic can degrade over time. The plastic pulleys I've seen that shattered did so because the bearing seized.

Or you could just service the pulley. Remove, pry off the cover with a razor blade. Clean the bearings with degreaser, then regrease. I use M1 Synthetic grease.

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do first. I ran across a couple threads on regulator repair. I'm all for Mcgyvering it first before getting a new one.

Oh, BTW. It's only a 20 minute job if you replace the insert on the pump, 10 without. Been doing this for years.

The dealership I called said they were using BG Automatic Trans Fluid.

I went with the Valvoline Dex VI. Napa has it in stock.
